Teeter Totter

I love our bird
Our bird scares me
Why
It could fly away at any moment
So
That’s what birds do

And

Skeeball is a popular arcade game in which balls are rolled up a ramp and launched towards a target. Depending where it falls, each ball can score 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 points. A player gets the same number of balls per game, no matter how well or poorly they score.

Kira and Daquan decided to have a Skeeball contest. They each played one game to see who would get the highest score. A description of their contest follows:

Kira scored as many 30's as Daquan did 20's.
Daquan scored one more 40 than he did 20.
Kira scored the same number of 50's as she did 30's.
Daquan scored twice as many 30's as he did 20's.
Kira scored one less than twice as many 20's as Daquan did.
Daquan scored two more 40's than Kira did 10's.
Kira scored the same number of 40's as she did 10's.
When it was all over, Daquan had won by 10 points. Write and solve an equation to answer these two questions:

How many balls are rolled in a game of Skeeball?

What was the final score of the contest?

MR PEGG WHERE ARE YOU? THERE IS A MATH PROBLEM HANGING HERE NEEDING TO BE SOLVED.

OK smart asses, here is the solution. See if you can keep up.

1. We know Kira (K) scored the same number of 30's as Daquan (D) scored 20's. So, we can use x to represent that number of balls. So,
K adds 30x points and D add 20x

2. Since D scored one more 40 than he did 20's we add
40(x+1) to D's score

3. Also, K scored the same number of 50's as she did 30's, therefore
K adds 50x

4. D scored twice as many 30's as he did 20's, therefore,
D adds 30(2x)

5. K scored one less than twice as many 20's as D did. Since we know D score x number of 20's, we can solve for K
K adds 20(2x-1)

6. D scored two more 40's than K scored 10's. Since D scored (x+1) 40's, it follows that K scored (x+1-2) 10's
K adds 10(x+1-2)

&. K scored the same number of 40's as 10's, therefore
K adds 40(x+1-2)

D outscored K by 10 points.

so, we have

10(x-1)+20(2x-1)+30x+40(x-1)+50x+10=20x+30(2x)+40(x+1)
or
10x-10+40x-20+30x+40x-40+50x+10=20x+60x+40x+40
or
170x-60=120x+40
so
170x=120x+100
50x=100
x=2

Therefore, K scored 1 10, 3 20's, 2 30's, 1 40 and 2 50, while D scored 2 20's, 4 30's and 3 40's.

Final score: 270 to 280
Number of balls: 9

How long does it take for something to show up that you have posted?

I think this is it. I'm not sure, I only had 15 minutes to work on it.

D outscored K by 10 points.

so, we have

10(x-1)+20(2x-1)+30x+40(x-1)+50x+10=20x+30(2x)+40(x+1)
or
10x-10+40x-20+30x+40x-40+50x+10=20x+60x+40x+40
or
170x-60=120x+40
so
170x=120x+100
50x=100
x=2

Therefore, K scored 1 10, 3 20's, 2 30's, 1 40 and 2 50, while D scored 2 20's, 4 30's and 3 40's.

Final score: 270 to 280
Number of balls: 9
